ICMA “Young Artist Award” 2018
The ICMA Young Artist Award 2018 goes to Christoph Sietzen.
The baritone, José van Dam, receives the Lifetime Achievement Award, Manfred Honeck, Music Director of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, is ICMA’s Artist of the Year.
Among the audio and video awards, the recipients are Capella de Ministrers, Stefan Temmingh, Philippe Jaroussky, Véronique Gens, Lukasz Borowicz, Krystian Zimerman, Quartetto di Cremona, Sol Gabetta, Cornelius Meister, Alexander Liebreich, Hannu Lintu, Herbert Blomstedt and Markus Poschner.
For the International Classical Music Awards 2018, the ICMA Jury has once more selected musicians and organizations that have distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements. Each year, the Jury identifies the highest standards, and the musicians honoured in 2018 are testament to the worlds thriving and vibrant music community.
The Award Ceremony and Gala Concert will take place on April 6 at the magnificent concert hall of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio in Katowice, conducted by Alexander Liebreich.

Der ICMA Young Artist Award “2018 geht an Christoph Sietzen.
Der Bariton José van Dam erhält den Lifetime Achievement Award, Manfred Honeck, Musikdirektor des Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, ist ICMAs Artist of the Year. Der Young Artist of the Year Award geht an den herausragenden luxemburgisch-österreichischen Perkussionisten Christoph Sietzen. Unter den Audio und Video Awards sind die Preisträger Capella de Ministrers, Stefan Temmingh, Philippe Jaroussky, Véronique Gens, Lukasz Borowicz, Krystian Zimerman, Quartetto di Cremona, Sol Gabetta, Cornelius Meister, Alexander Liebreich, Hannu Lintu, Herbert Blomstedt und Markus Poschner.
Für die International Classical Music Awards 2018 hat die ICMA Jury erneut Musiker und Organisationen ausgewählt, die sich durch herausragende Leistungen ausgezeichnet haben. Die Musiker, die von der Jury 2018 geehrt werden, sind ein Beweis für die blühende und lebendige Musikszene der Welt.
Die Preisverleihung und das Galakonzert finden am 6. April im wunderschönen Konzertsaal des Nationalen Symphonieorchesters des Polnischen Rundfunks in Katowice unter der Leitung von Alexander Liebreich statt.

Christoph Sietzen live auf BBC Radio 3 „In Tune“
Christoph spielte Musik von J.S. Bach und Arvo Pärt live und unterhielt sich mit Katie Derham u.a. über seine CD „Attraction“ sowie seine Konzerte in England, außerdem über Dirigent Paavo Järvi, ebenfalls Gast in der Sendung, der ebenfalls Schlagwerk und Marimba studierte.

Christoph played music by J.S. Bach, F. Chueca and Arvo Pärt live in the studio and was chatting with Katie Derham about his CD “Attraction”, his concerts in England and about conductor Paavo Järvi (also guest in the show), who had played Percussion and Marimba himself in his studies.

“HAMBURG — “It’s good if you keep clapping,” the percussionist Christoph Sietzen told the audience at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall here on a recent evening, “because the next piece is extremely quiet and I need to catch my breath.”
Mr. Sietzen had just completed a fiercely athletic rendition of “Rebonds” by Iannis Xenakis and was composing himself for the crystalline stillness of Arvo Pärt’s “Variations for the Healing of Arinushka.” (The combination is a percussionist’s equivalent of the Olympic biathlon.) When the applause, now even louder and mixed with laughter, had died down, he took up position at a marimba and coaxed from it sounds of rapturous fragility.”

Christoph zu Gast im Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt
Live aus dem RadioCafe in Wien gesendet, war Christoph Gast von Renate Burtscher im Klassik-Treffpunkt des österreichischen Klassik-Senders Österreich 1. Dabei spielte er Werke von J.S.Bach und Arvo Pärt, brachte einige Musikwünsche mit und unterhielt sich mit Gastgeberin Renate Burtscher unter anderem über seine CD “Attraction”, den ICMA “Young Artist Award”, das Wave Quartet und seinen musikalischen Werdegang sowie seine kommenden Konzerte in Wien.

Starting the new year on TV
Christoph starts into the new year with 2 performances on German TV, both on January 2nd: in the morning on ZDF, in the evening on RBB before heading to London for his concert on the 5th.
